The requirement to conduct Management Review often thwarts organisation first time round. We are able to facilitate this and record records. Where there is an understudy who wants to step
up and take this over going forwards, we leave them with templates. If not, MKE can take over this process for your organisation annually, so you always comply with ISO requirements.
How to Prepare for ISO Certification
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems is sought after by many organisations as it proves the reliability of their management system. ISO 14001 and 45001 are also widely sought after to increase the reach of work available to be tendered.
- 9001 is a process orientated Standard and so obtaining ISO 9001 certification requires participation of the whole team. For this reason, MKE works with your team to educate, coach and assist understanding of requirements.
- We conduct a Gap Analysis of your systems to the Standard and this results in an Action Plan to implement areas where there are gaps against the standard. We can provide templates for content, procedures, forms, registers – whatever is required.
- Following the Gap Analysis we provide a detailed report with tangible actions that need to be completed on a certain timeframe (supporting your certification timeline).
Management Review – Your Guidance Toolkit
ISO Management Systems aim to implement a holistic approach to organisational operations and performance management. For organisations looking to implement their own tailored ISO Management Systems, it is important to ensure that Management Review and Internal Audits are part of the annual schedule for your organisation.
Management reviews are formal evaluations of your ISO Management Systems that are scheduled in accordance with your organisation’s internal audit schedule. Management reviews are often conducted following internal (and often external) audits with the intention of reviewing the findings of these audits. Your Management Review should look at trends in performance and informs future actions to improve business performance.
The Standards do not dictate that you undertake Management Review in a dedicate meeting, however our advice is that its easier to capture all the required inputs and outputs if you do hold a dedicated annual or biannual meeting. Organisations to undertake meaningful MRs notoriously request to undertake these a minimum of two times in the calendar year as they glean so much benefit from the process.
Typically MR benefits from Top Management attending – managers from all relevant departments and the C Suite. All compliance related roles should also be involved as they will typically prepare the slide deck.
Alongside business leaders and decision makers, you may invite any other staff or consultants who have relevant insights.
Management Review is well-served having a templated Agenda and Minutes Record that
includes all the ISO Standard-required Inputs and Outputs. MKE can assist with all of these
tools to ensure your process runs as efficiently as possible.
MR should provide a record of any management conversations about important issues and any
corrective actions agreed in the meeting. These actions should have responsible persons and due date.
Audit Programs and Internal Audit
Auditing is a skill that is built up over time. Many organisations send their staff to Internal and Lead Auditor training and are surprised when they return and confess their inadequacy to conduct audits. This is because Audit conduct is an art gained through experience and exposure. MKE has 25+ years’ experience of auditing high risk and complex projects, working as internal contract auditor of large infrastructure projects for major consulting firms like Deloitte.
